Dear Students,
Our department is one of the first two departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Anadolu University in 1994. We continue our work within the body of Eskişehir Technical University with the transfer of Faculty of Engineering of Anadolu University to the newly established Eskişehir Technical University May 18, 2018. We are currently conducting our educational and research activities with 20 faculty members and 4 teaching staff. In addition to our student laboratories in the areas of environmental chemistry, unit operations and processes, microbiology; We continue our research activities with our undergraduate/postgraduate students in well-equipped research laboratories in the fields of water quality, air quality, waste management and water/wastewater treatment. With the MÜDEK accreditation, we have been trying for many years to increase both the quality of our training and our national/international recognition within the framework of the engineering fundamentals and quality studies that are important for our profession.
The global climate change and environmental disasters that we have witnessed in recent years, and the addition of new ones to these disasters and environmental destruction every day, are an indicator of the increasing responsibility of environmental engineers. According to the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Analysis Survey; Climate action problems, extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, man-made environmental damage and resource crises and environmental problems are among the top 10 of the list of most serious risks in the next 10 years on a global scale. The importance of environmental engineers is seen in YK's Future Professions Studies and new professions such as Green Collars, Climate Analyst, Green Energy Engineer, Waste Manager are also planned.
Environmental engineers, whose demand is increasing nationally and internationally; It actively participates in areas such as the development of sustainable production processes, the design of circular economy processes, global climate change, the design of water/wastewater management systems, the design of air quality control systems, the conversion of waste into valuable materials and energy, and the implementation of environmental laws. environmental engineers; They are used in public institutions such as ministries, universities, DSI, Iller Bank, research institutions and in the private sector such as factories, power plants, recycling plants, consulting firms.
In professional business life, we continue to work towards the goal of being among the departments that pursue and implement sustainable economic development goals, improve the welfare of society with research and social awareness programs, and educate nationally and internationally renowned environmental engineers. In line with this goal; We strive to educate professional environmental leaders who meet the demands of the times, adhere to professional ethics when solving environmental problems, work in an interdisciplinary manner, and have a creative, innovative, and holistic perspective with the educational and scientific study opportunities we offer to students.
Graduating since 1998, our department has very valuable graduates who continue to work as engineers/company owners/researchers/managers in the public and private sectors and we are proud of them. We have no doubt that you, our students who are part of our department, will fulfill your duties as a good person and engineer in line with the above goals. I wish you always do works that bring our country one step further and believe in everything you do and I wish you success in both your university life and your professional life.
May your path always be bright.
With love and regards
Aysun Özkan
